ABOUT US

HOW WE STARTED

The Sụpụ Project began in the Summer of 2018 as a YouTube channel, Sụpụ: The Igbo Language Cafe/Class. Our focus was to teach the Igbo language and have mini discussions with the public via YouTube. Our strategy changed in April 2020 when we went live with our online lessons. If you asked our founder, Oby Okpala, she would say that Sụpụ began a long time before 2018. 'I always wanted to teach my children Igbo, I planned my strategies but didn't know how to implement it., until the YouTube option came along. All the plans to launch out as an entity began way back in 2008'.

WHERE WE ARE NOW

The Sụpụ Project is not just another language programme. Learning Igbo is a journey, we walk the journey with you. We introduce 'fun' in learning Igbo Language. So whilst Igbo may be 'tonal' in nature, we will teach you to sing its tunes. We understand the challenges our learners may encounter, our role is to support you as we overcome the challenge together and achieve the Igbo tongue.

OUR STRATEGY

On this journey, we use, props and plays, prose and poems and our personalised resources to break down Igbo Language for easy understanding. We provide group and private classes prepared to match our learners' specific needs.
